Introducing Wildgirl Adventure

Welcome to Wildgirl Adventure! I'm so glad you're here and can't wait to share all of my favorite tips, trips, experiences, places, products and so much more. I have been wanting to build a platform like this for years.  A platform that is a safe place to talk about all of my favorite things and find others who can relate.  I've definitely always been one of those people who has felt like an outsider, so I'm excited to take a step out of my comfort zone and create a place where not only am I on the inside, but I'm here with open arms to anyone else who has felt that way and likes my content.

Now, I can't promise that I'll be any good at this, but you never know until you give something a try.

A little about me is I am a 21-year-old who lives in Michigan (and has her whole life) with my dog Oakley (a 1-year-old German Shepherd).  I love to read, travel, explore the outdoors, take lots and lots of pictures, and meet people from all over the world. As of now, I have been lucky enough to have been to 34 states and 4 countries (other than the US), and I hope to travel to many more.  One of my goals is to visit all 50 states, so I'm looking forward to planning some trips in the near future.

Out of all the incredible places I've been, I'm so glad to call Michigan my home and I feel as if, no matter where this life takes me, I'll always come back here.  I feel like it's one of those states that gets grouped in with the Midwest and labeled as "boring", but I couldn't disagree with that more.  There is so much to see and explore!  Such as the various terrains (mountains, forests, sand dunes, fields, beaches, etc), the beautiful variety of wildlife, and of course the Great Lakes.  We basically have 4 mini oceans all around the state, but they're even better.  They're filled with fresh water and no sharks or stingrays.  Now, I know I may be a bit biased, but I think Michigan is a great mixture of the best things from each state. There's always something to do within about a half-an-hour to an-hour radius at all times.  This state is great for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels and is great for people just getting into it.

Growing up, I always had a fascination with photography.  During all 4 years of high school, I was very involved with sports photography and was the football team photographer.  Now that I'm out of high school, I focus mainly on nature and smaller shoots with friends or family.  I just love how different things look through that lens and you can have 15 people taking pictures of the same thing and each of them has a completely different perspective.  They each focus on something different that they find important or beautiful in each shot.  I also love that I'm able to capture memories to last a lifetime.  While the moment is usually short, having a photo to commemorate and remember it is such a blessing.  There is so much power that comes with it as well.  As a photographer, you are able to help people see the beauty around them or sometimes even within themselves.  That's what always makes me the happiest.  When I am able to help someone feel good and see how beautiful they truly are.

Reading is also something that I absolutely love.  When I have spare time and want to relax or I'm stressed and need to get away for a little bit, a good book is always the perfect solution. The thing that I truly admire about reading is that it allows you to go on countless adventures and meet numerous people anywhere in the world.  It allows you to expand your horizons and live through thousands of different lives.  You get to know the characters and experience their life with them. I really like romance books so I get to fall in love over and over again every day.  It's just something special when you can experience so much without actually experiencing it.  I've also found that reading has sparked many interests and desires within me as well.  I've developed a deeper desire for travel and connecting with Mother Nature.  I feel as if each book leaves a little piece behind and leaves its own unique impression on me, making me who I am today.

Another thing about me is that I grew up very involved with my church and participated in many service projects during middle school and high school with my youth group in Michigan and Southern Ontario. I also eventually became part of the host team at another local church to help lead their service project.  I've always had a desire to help people and the projects I was on not only strengthened my faith but taught me how to care for and love all those around me.  It opened my eyes to so many problems in our society that affect everyone and that even the simplest act of kindness can make a dramatic impact on someone's life.  That's why one of the biggest things that I try to focus on in life is to just be kind and do what I can to help others.  It doesn't take a lot and if there's something I can do to make someone's day even the slightest bit better, why not do it?  You never know what anyone else is going through, and who knows, maybe that was the one kind gesture that changed their entire life.

That's the kind of mindset I want to bring to this platform.  To spread kindness and love in any way possible while discovering who you are, what you love, and what your purpose is in this life.

I'm excited to grow this platform and see where it goes and all it's able to accomplish.  Life is one big continuous adventure and I'm along for the ride while documenting it to share with all of you here.  I can't wait to grow this into the amazing community that I know it can be and the biggest part of that is the incredible people that are here as a part of this community and supporting it as it continues to grow.
